Werrrrnerrr is the place for me. I just love living the dream. I could’ve ended up a unruly savage, but wound up here making spending cabbage.Dale thompson, 88 Alpha, Schoob and 4 others Thank this. -

Back in the 90’s while driving for a owner operator he decided to lease a couple of his trucks to Werner. Luckily I was considered a owner operator so I didn’t have a lot of issues to deal with.
But, doing the three day orientation at the Atlanta terminal opened my eyes. I could not belive they were going to let some of those wretches in a truck.
The Werner gig lasted 6 months.jeff18 Thanks this. -
They've been fair to me. Definitely not a fan of some of their policies, but ehh it's not my business so it is what it is. Started in Aug, they literally paid for my cdl, started 49 CPM straight out of CDL school, 3 weeks in a trainers truck grossing 750 a week. Lowest paycheck was 600 bucks gross (took 3 days off) best was 14xx on a 6 day run...overall average weekly is 1100 gross.
Mind sharing what issues you had? Also mind sharing what you did to correct them? Just curious, I like keeping my options open -
Uh-huh.

Whoa, I just have to finally jump in on the Werner conversation, just feel the need to chime in on Werner, my husband has been with Werner for 2 years, they have treated him so so, his trainer was not the greatest, but he survived it, after 1 year he is now a trainer, only making .38 cpm, no trouble getting his time off, but he willingly stays out 3 to 4 weeks at a time, we have Bill's to pay...he is currently looking for another job.... he is a good person so I am sure he is a good trainer, his guys are put on the rd after 4 weeks of training, one guy he was shocked that they put him on the rd, as of 4 weeks was still having problems.....there miles are are so inconsistent, maybe this is the norm, I have no idea, this is his first trucking job....but it is so frustrating, he complains but it doesn't matter, his guy says it is the planner and they have no control over it.....a few weeks ago it was time for his truck inspection, his truck was in the shop from Saturday to wed because someone broke the windshield while it was in the shop, he got pd 150 for sitting for 4 days, gets back on the rd, 1 day later during a bad storm wipers have out, they screwed them up when they changed the windshield, was stopped for another day, no pay, and on and on and on, he has never been treated badly, but excuse after excuse for the miles, so for the new guy saying he is making. 49 com, I call BS...hope this helps someone else
Merilin, Dale thompson and SteerTire Thank this. -
That's why I called BS on the poster claiming to make .49 cpm, straight out of school. Werner is one of the lowest paying companies.Misty60 Thanks this.

I worked for Werner my first nine months of driving and I was on a Pep Boys dedicated account in the Northeast. This was back when we could split our sleeper breaks. I think I averaged about $800 a week take home after taxes and I was home every weekend. After they changed the hours of service the whole thing went to hell and everybody quit because nobody was making any money. Not being able to split the sleeper break really screwed everyone. I would never do it today.
Misty60 Thanks this.
