Made it back to Church Hill this morning. After the delay getting unloaded, then getting my trailer's electrical issues resolved, it put a crimp on my 14. And, since I was leaving Canada, I had to have my hours set up so when I crossed back into the U.S., I was legal. Just before I jumped off in Corbin, KY to cut thru the woods, I get a call from safety asking if I wouldn't mind coming down thru Mascot and picking up some stuff going to Church Hill. "Sure, but it'll be Friday morning before I get there". So, that's what they had me do...hey, I get paid to drive...empty, loaded, mail currier....all pays. When I got here this a.m., I was the 9th bobtail....ughhhh, slow season at last....as of this morning, I am over 9200/month, and I have been slacking off.

Gonna get a bit chilly
This is Wednesday, Thursday is only slightly warmer, but still below 0° F for HIGH temperatures. Need to keep the ole' brass monkeys indoors next week up there, that's for sure. -
Were you one of the three at the Church Hill yard yesterday?

Somewhere on this thread is a video of glass coming off a trailer and being broken so it could be disposed of.

Honestly....you didn't have to show me this....when I saw the one I posted, Little Snackbar decided he didn't want be outside (my body)...I had to call my wife and have her talk dirty just to go pee...now, after seeing your graphic, I might not see him until spring...

runningman0661 Thanks this. -
Yeah, it was on a Maverick double drop.
This isn't it, but kinda puts things into perspective on how it can be dangerous to do this job (btw, these aren't blocks of glass in this video like the title says, these are just big packs)
Many things were done wrong here...1st...landing gear MUST be down and any air bags on the trailer must be deflated. 2nd...never turn your back on the glass...3rd hardhat, glasses and kevlar sweater should be worn by the unloader. They guy is lucky there was a truck as close as it was, it started it breaking before it hit him. There was an AGC loader in Church Hill that had a crate of glass fall over on him in a dry van just before I started glass training. He had all the safety gear on, but still got badly hurt.Last edited: Jan 26, 2019
