his posting (to me) was removed, but i got to read it in your response to him, does not bother me at my 40+ years out here.....CDL Mills were not as readily available back in the decades, as they are now. (i question his CDL education and experience, and skill levels).. i had a real education, in which one that pretty much attests that speed, weight, inertia, weather, roads and other factors play a role in one's survival or demise.
so i do not get butt hurt when someone accuses ME of being a CDL Mill grad....however, I DO QUESTION thier obtaining of a CDL.
no truck can withstand outside forces greater than what is forced on them.
seeing how he had survived ONE crash, hardly speaks of a testimonial worth investigating. others have survived the same (or close to) the same crashes.....and i'd be guessing, they weren't all Volvo's.....
he speaks hogwash.

I think Volvo has the best automatic transmission ( who cares) other than that the only redeeming value is keeping euro trash out of Paccar products.

To a fault Volvo does put airbags in their steering wheels. I drove one but I’m not too keen on testing any safety systems in any truck regardless of make or model.

I think after a fatality crash, they might investigate the deceased driver's phone records to determine if distracted driving might have played a role, but they never release the details of that out of respect to the deceased and their family.

Here is the most important aspect of this thread that HAS to be addressed:
Whenever I am following another vehicle, ESPECIALLY in bad conditions, the VAST majority of my attention is on my relative following distance to the vehicle in front of me.
NOTHING is more important than THAT.
It absolutely amazes me when I see "professional" drivers suddenly slam on the brakes to avoid rear ending a vehicle in front of them, when it was MORE than just a LITTLE apparent that traffic ahead was either stopped or slowing significantly.
Pay attention. Keep your head in the game. Stop listening to the radio and start focusing on the task at hand.
We are in one of the most dangerous professions. Keep that in mind.
Stay safe.
