Most pizza delivery drivers get paid between 3-5 while they are driving because they are tipped employees, and minimum wage in the store.
Please tip your pizza delivery guy or gal. If you can't afford it, go pick it up yourself.

The argument of tipping pizza/waiters/bartenders vs. freight delivery is ridiculous. Pizza/Waitstaff/Barstaff are paid a wage that is structured to rely on tipped compensation vs. a driver being paid $20+ an hour.

Here's my view on it: I never expected to get a tip for a residential delivery, but when I was the receiver of a skid of tile brought to my house recently I made sure to have cash on me to tip the R&L driver. I just wanted to show a fellow LTL man some love because I know how hard his job is and how rarely he does get tipped.
I think the whole thing boils down to attitude. The only way you'll be able deal with doing residentials is if you go into it never expecting a tip. Residentials are a pain enough; unrealistic expectations that people should tip will make those deliveries even more miserable.Blackshack46, Texas_hwy_287, JReding and 1 other person Thank this. -

Tipping is a form of having your customers subsidize the existence of the food worker serving same on reduce pay out of your pocket restaurant owner....
I have not eaten out in a proper tipping place almost 15 years now. Most of what we do go out to eat is at the Petro among other places that do not have tipping. (We do tip the Petro Gal at the table and quite a bit and that's about it... only because they usually do a good job with us when they have the time to do it)Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
i make no differential in who comes to my house, (to be tipped) other than the pizza delivery person. for which he/she gets a tip for delivering my pizzas, and even then, it's 20% of the price of the pizza.
bottom line, he's LOOKING for extra money from the customers. he ought to be reported and hopefully fired.localguy65, Blackshack46 and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
I literally go out to Chipotle, or pollo tropical to avoid tipping
Casual dine in restaurants won't survive another 10 years. e.i Applebees, Chili's, etcTexas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
But if a driver in any way shape or form lets the customer know that he expects a tip he I wouldn't blame the company for firing him.
I've never been sure that I understood the word "entitled" as it applies to the younger generation and what they want and expect.
I think I get it now.buddyd157, Blackshack46, x1Heavy and 2 others Thank this. -
I personally never expect a tip from a house delivery, but I’m not about to go out of my way to try and buck for one either like some of our drivers. I have too much other crap to do.

OP probably forgot when we do residential deliveries, its all about customer satisfaction regardless if the customer tips or has a crappy attitude.
At least to me going beyond expectation gives me a sense of accomplishment, also by providing a good service means the customer will give us their business.localguy65, McUzi, JReding and 3 others Thank this.
