Why blah blah, I'm giving the guy some great advice. If he's going to pull a Van go to a Van company..LS Van swallows mercer everyday and on Sunday..Hell I'd go to Schneider and pull a van there before I pull a Van here.. It's not the priority here.. This is a flatbed company

I've told you that twice.
There's money to be made at Mercer if a guy is smart.JonJon78, thaistick, spyder7723 and 1 other person Thank this. -
yeah its just interesting to see how the areas are mostly the same for flats and vans.RStewart Thanks this.

Use your brain. If a place is good for flatbed it means it has a lot of industry in it. Then it is also good for vans. Manufacturing volume is what drives truck load rates and volume. with the exception of reefer which is also driven by food production, be it produce, livestock meats, fish, and dairy.Last edited: Feb 24, 2019

Aint no money on the Van side... It's really a shame that you all would even attempt to make him believe it is.. First off, I'm not paying 600 a month to use a trailer that I'll never own just to pull brokered freight that's 1.20-1.60.. that's just dumb.. When you can go to LandStar or Schneider and have no trailer fee and make more money.. Also have the opportunity to run on a dedicated account.. Unless I'm pulling $2.50 and up I'm not paying 600 a month to rent a trailer
-
And over at land star youre only getting 65% of the load so your paying more than $600 per month to use their trailer
-
You pay way more than $600 a month for a trailer at Schneider and Landstar. Yes there is money on the van side, I've pulled a van at Mercer. I do believe there is more money at Landstar but there's a lot of junk at Landstar as well. I did better at Mercer than I did at Schneider. So, we are telling him our actual experience.

I have a few buddies on the van side and they did just fine. It's jyst like the flat side, if you expect the money to fall in your lap you aren't gonna get it. If you rely solely on your coordinator you will do ok but not great. But if you use your head and put in the effort you can make good money.
roshea, TruckerPete1990 and RStewart Thank this. -
I'll take the 65 and an abundance of spot market and direct account freight over 600 a month anyday.. You must be a rookie.. If I'm paying any equipment it's for me to own not to help someone else own.. What's the point in 75 percent if you pull up the Van board and all you see is 1.30 on the avg.. And this isn't just me talking it's a fact.. The mercer facebook page proves it

The only thing face book proves is we got a lot of ####### whiny truck drivers that need their hand held.
