The megachargers are rated in megawatts. You're probably going to need a new substation installed on the property in order to power these things.

It takes fossil fuel to make electricity.
Multiply supercharging by massive # of trucks...
Increased fossil fuel consumtion + can the electric grid handle it?Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
Walmart and Electrify America team up on 100 EV charging stations Not for trucks, I know, but it's showing initiative & Walmart knows if they can get you charging there & that charge takes some time, more than likely, you will be going through their doors to shop!Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

#### yes I'm thinking of ordering one. I haul local, under 300 miles a day. And I live 10 minutes away from Tesla.
RussianBearTruckeR and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Likely yes, but they also give up the truck engine too. That block is a beast. Between engine, engine peripherals and fluids, and the fuel and fuel tanks, there's plenty of room and weight for a LOT of batteries.
I will say, however, that the only way I would run one of these would be if I had a 53' trailer, and dedicated the first 5 feet of it to a generator and fuel. Might as well make it a reefer and add a heating and cooling system.
Run the generator during downtime to charge the batteries. Might even be able to get by with tax-free fuel, since the engine is a charging engine, not a physical drive engine. -
Those big electric engines aren't going to be light though, and last I heard they were putting one on each wheelend at least for the drives.

I'd be willing to put money on the electric drive assembly being in the same weight range as the mechanical drive assembly of a standard drive truck. Transmission, two drive shafts, two differentials exchanged for 4 electric motors and differentials..
Take a look here. They are using 4 of their model 3 roadster motors.
Here are some specs on Model 3 roadster component weights. -
Off the line, nothing would beat it. Some Tesla's do 7 second quarter miles.

So CUMMINS made a comment to its investors that its basically eyeing the EV market! Will this be a true industry shift in the near future?
