No need to argue.
What gear was the transmission in when he bypassed the truck ramp? Take an educated guess. Are there signs at the top, yellow and black, that shows a truck on a downgrade? Do you think that he understood what this sign meant YET chose to ignore it?
Anybody witness the fiery crash in Denver involving a trucker?

If we're talking homeless it seems that most of the cities with the largest homeless populations are also the cities that are the most lax with respect to tolerating hard drug use.
COBB2070 Thanks this. -
I blame the people who trained him, the people who tested him, the people who created the written and practical test criteria, the government agencies that accredited the school, instructors and testing facilities, the people who hired him and anyone else responsible for putting this kid and so many other poorly equipped drivers on the road, cars and trucks.
I've seen a lot of changes since 1972 and it makes me sick what goes on out there, I believe it's a societal thing.
Way back when, there were no electronic devices like there are today and it's evident how dependant we are on gizmos and gadgets, most people are lost without them.
Having said that, electronics shouldn't be a thought when you're driving for life or death and signs don't mean a whole lot when you're out of control, at least not the ones after the runaway ramp.
You should have your head up and your eyes on the situation, scanning to find a way out, see where you're going to go with one thought in your mind, one of the first things young truckers were taught back in the stone age, one of the commandments from the truckers code of the road.
"One life for ten."
If you're out of control, hit the bridge, put it up against the rock cut to slow you down, rub the guard rail, slam it into the trees, drive it off a cliff and hope for the best, but don't kill other people just because you don't want to die, this should be the first lesson of any green driver.
If a fool puts you in that situation, take a little more time to think about it.
I know a lot of old drivers who were forced into dangerous situations by idiots and chose to spare a life by wrecking their trucks.
In most cases they suffered great losses, physically and financially, many said if it happens again, they're just gonna run right over them, not a second thought. -

Is anyone surprised by this news? I’m not. We’re not done assigning blame here, not by a long shot
Trucker accused of fatal crash worked for company with history of brake issuesHammer166, Farmerbob1, Dumdriver and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’m not sure how I feel about him being held on $400,000 bond despite not being charged with anything. Obviously it’s legal, or they wouldn’t be doing it. But if they believe they have enough to hold him for darn near half a mil, shouldn’t they believe they have enough to actually charge him?rank Thanks this. -
Dumdriver Thanks this.
