Isn't that just about everywhere though? What places pay for you to go home after being fired? Get a bad discharge from the military they just drop you off outside the gate.

And if you can't do the job you were hired to do and get fired I don't know if that makes it a bad company

I find it hillarious that wage slaves posting in this subforum almost always side with a company, rain or shine, since they derive some perverted psychological satisfaction by comparing themselves to alledgedly underperforming peons. Masta would do no bad things to a good slave. Whether you are the best peon in the world, it does not automatically follow that a company should have a right to throw out a driver hundreds and thousands miles away. Why peons relate more to the bosses and their profit maximization needs than they relate to their own interests? Feeling superior to other human beings (e.g. drivers with violations and accidents) is pretty much universal human need, so you are willing to risk being stranded thousands miles away from home to have your feel good fix. Makes no rational sense. With this attitude they can bend you over in whatever way and they do.

Not saying I like the practice, but saying not to work for a company when just about every company, trucking or not, has the same practice isn't really saying a lot. He never said why he got fired or any of that.

For all we know , maybe he's trying to hitch a ride home and doesn't have any time to answer our questions.

For some folks : finding something wrong with someone else is like finding gold

Name a company that does care. I bet you can't name one. I know I can't either.

Be that as it may, you always need to plan for this no matter who you drive for. The company can simply shut their doors at anytime and leave you stranded on the road. Hell, I remember the disaster that Arrow Trucking was back in the day, alot of guys stuck all over the US with no way to get home. Guys were selling fuel and tires in the truckstops just to scrape-up some get-home money. And today, just look at the Falcon drivers (tho this wan't quite as bad).

ALWAYS have a Plan B: extra cash, a credit card, etc so that you can get home from anywhere at anytime.
