So, you made a mistake, and didn't make it worse, and didn't hit anything. Our safety dept is way too busy with knuckleheads to worry about you. You had a good day brother!

It happens. The guard is a prick. Just be more mindful in the future
x1Heavy and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
IF your company finds out, worst you will probably get is be more careful next time driver.
If you get fired you are hireable. Drivers get lost all the time. I am a yard dog. I habe to give directions at least 3 times a night where to go. No biggie.
Dont beat yourself up. Btw, every time we have had a driver show up at the wrong place (we have a drop lot and warehoise next door to each other) we habe never called their company, unless they damaged something.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I pulled up to the wrong gate at a construction site one night and was met by guys in a jeep with M16's.lol
nobody said it was the back side of a military base.
had to back up a good ways to a wide turn around spot.
in this job, crap happens. makes it interesting.Rideandrepair, tinytim, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had one point to a hole in the ground and growl put your truck down there.
NOW.
Ok. A hole in the ground how hard can it be. Turns out there is a whole city down there it seems like. Stuff for nightmares.Rideandrepair, Lepton1 and Numb Thank this. -
I can't imagine anyone reporting you for showing up at a closed gate and then backing out of the situation. I worry about everything. I wouldn't worry about that situation.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

If your company fired you over some ######## like that, they'd be doing you a favor. Because that's not the kind of company you want to work for. Any time you're worried about your company firing you for X stupid reason, just take a look at some of the morons sharing the road with you, they somehow have jobs so you'll be just fine =)Last edited: May 8, 2019
Rideandrepair, x1Heavy and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this. -
I have actually had management or dispatchers reveal the extent of their inability to understand what drivers do on certain loads that did not go well. I have recognized enough that the company is rotten and I should quit. And I did from time to time.
Invariably those companies went out of business within months. Nothing left but stories.Numb and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Historically felons rebuilt their lives in trucking. Starting in the food warehouses and cold storage earning cash unloading trailers and then working their way up to driving.
Many employers probably refuse to touch a felon, but trucking, Ive had a thousand felons to do the work back there in my time for lumper etc. Happy to pay them for a good job well done. And a few who were influential enough in the area to provide security for me from other predators.
I choose to simply say that whatever a felon did, if this is freedom, go get to it. It's your life. Enjoy it. Leave that jail behind. It's finished. Trucking has always been able to accomodate. -
I’d say a Safety Award is due to You if any. Not only did you get out of there safely, You did it under pressure. That’s downrigt Proffesional.Cant say the same for the Guard though. Some day he’ll holler ( for the last time) at a borderline Maniac Truckdriver, plenty of those out here.
x1Heavy Thanks this.
