so I left swift since for whatever reason they don't have regional routes for dfw drivers.

I went to a new company that does n long story short it's forced dispatch. Freight been slow lately. But today is the last straw. I start my day at 7. It's a delivery about 9 miles away. Live unload. 10:30 I'm done.

I get back to the yard wait until my next short local load due to freight being slow. It's another live unload. 3pm delivery. I get there and the appointment wasn't even in their system so they "get to me when they get to me ". Not words you want to hear from a paper mill.

Anyways I'm told to bring trailer back to the yard as I am planned for a load tomorrow morning going to Fort worth anyway.

When I get to the yard though they take away Fort worth load this time I have a load delivering in the north suburbs at 1800 but I won't even make it there until 1845 according to the pre plan.

Mind you my 14 is over at 9:15. And the load isn't at the yard I have to go get it in Dallas rush hour traffic then deliver it in Dallas rush hour traffic. That alone might knocc off around 90 minutes from my 14. So about 2 hours and 30 minutes to wait for them to unload the trailer and then find somewhere to park. The shipper receiver is about 25-30 minutes away with NO traffic. Our yard is off of i20.

I'm just not doing this load.

So you'll work a full 14 hour day for 50 bucks. Lol.
You wanted regional work out of dallas,
    Well your getting it.

I wouldn't touch any of it.
Either go otr or go local.
Regional is local work, but they pay you by the mile.
Therefore working you to death, for half the price
    Of a hourly driver.

Find a place to park and tell them you'll
Deliver that load to the north suburbs,
    After your break.

There's no such thing as forced dispatch.
Only drivers who allow the craziness to happen.
Learn to say NO, and your trucking career
Will become a whole lot easier.

Then the next time they have a bunch of free
Work to dump on somebody, they won't call you.
    That's how this stuff works.

    There's always a company hack, who's broke
And scared to death to lose their job.
    Let them do it.

You're right. I just can't justify working 14 hours for $50. It'll be different if I had a load set up after but it's been this way for the past couple weeks. Atleast swift let you make money

NFI runs dedicated accounts near there and a friend said they aren’t too bad. I think he was getting around $1200 a week. They don’t allow pets though. At any rate, read through the posts for suggestions but there are lots of companies running freight near Dallas.

Werner has 3M dedicated positions (tank/haz) open in Dallas and TCU (reefer). The other open spots are basic van and nothing special. I have run some tcu but none of the 3M. You can pm me if you want.

Me personally, I don’t care if I run 300 miles a week as long as I’m getting paid for my time. If you aren’t making 1100 a week and you are available for all the loads then look elsewhere.
