i been at this whole trucking thing going on 3 years. Ran both reefer and current flatbed. The company I’m at now is great and it’s an uphill battle to find somewhere better. It’s flatbed and I have to tarp. At first this wasent so bad but I was getting 1500 to 2200 mile runs on a reg. Now it’s 300, 400, 600 etc I’m doing 5x the work for the same pay which is like 1575 gross before you consider all the benefits like free company paid health dental vision. 401k extra 50 bucks and loyalty pay now that an extra 60 bucks. Not a bad gig. I just don’t see myself doing this for the long run. Problem is problem has been that I got a dui 6 years ago. Next year it will be 7 years and I’m looking into Trimac as the top place I wanna work hauling dangerous hazmat with a tanker making good money. Not tarping lol. I’ve only had two trucking jobs In these 3 years. I don’t wanna be a job hopper that’s no good. So idk what should I do get a job with tankers awhile like Indian river or Schneider to get tanker experience? Or just stay put where I’m at? No doubt I don’t think I’ll be able to find a rookie tanker outfit that pays me more than I’m making now that will hire me. Or maybe I should just go run dry van?? Just an easy door slamming job? It would be so much easier if my company would give me a conastoga I’d definately stay. Long haul trucking anit hiring right now. Not sure of other trucking companies that can pay me the same and run me with conastoga dry van or tanker. End of the day it’s all about the money no point doing same job for less. What do you guys recommend me do? Maybe you have a few companies in mind that could make my life better and easier? Should I just wait here another year? Long term my goal is Walmart or old dominion but that won’t be no time soon.

Oh and I feel like my current company is trying to get me to quit because they keep giving me short runs and sending me to shippers where it takes 6 to 7 hours to get loaded never used to be this way. Idk I feel like everyone is out to get me lol maybe it’s just temporary idk what I did wrong sure I was late on delivery a couple times not a day late tho or anything. Maybe it’s cuz I take 12 to 13 hour breaks?? But I’m on time 98% of the time just when things go wrong I’m late.

Just when things go I'm late, how is that going to work with van or tanker, they usually don't do late.

Just saying, van or tank is usually on a much stricter schedule than flats.
As far as sitting at a shipper, I sure am not going tol og it as on duty if I can possibly help it.

    I don't think there's many tankers on a schedule.

I could be wrong but most that I've seen so far have been like flatbeds. Load when you arrive and unload when you arrive.

I know milk is on appts though.

Go to car hauling and ask for 30%
I did it for a little and I’m a fan can make great money with a smaller outfit
