No responce from ET in over a week. That appears to be a bad sign. I am sure he has a computer at home. I hope everything is OK. It would not suprise me though if he is no longer working for crete. They are one of the many big companies out there who really don't care about their drivers. I hope all is well.

I hope he's okay too, but your other comment is poppycock. If he was let go "because Crete don't care" don't you think he'd have taken the time to post about it? Companies have no more obligation to keep you employed than you have an obligation to keep working for them.

Miles have been pretty good the last few weeks. over 2500 this week. Will be taking this load from Holdrege, NE to Redlands, CA for some much needed hometime...been out 8 weeks this time.

Hope you all stay safe while I'm kicking it in sunny San Diego watching the Padres lose and drinking 2 months worth of brewskis...Anybody that posts here ever try Stone Brewery's beers? they make great IPAs. Mouth is watering thinking about one.

Wonderful creation with the spreadsheets. Great record keeping kudos! Looks like solo. Are you considering owner/operator or does company driving prove beneficial.

Uuuum, because Crete really doesn't care about its drivers? That would be my guess. Crete can be a good place to work but don't kid yourself into thinking they could give two s###s about you.

Ask the driver sitting in jail because they pushed him to violate HOS until he killed 7 kids . Yes , they run legal now . They HAVE to or lose their authority . They not only don't care about their drivers . They didn't care about the people they endangered .

Ruination IPA is my all-time favorite beer. I cannot get it here in Iowa due to some weird state regs. So I only get to enjoy when visitig CA.

1st of all, get your information straight...The Florida driver in no way violated the HOS regulations...His logbook was compliant with every regulation dealing with HOS. He was just plain stupid for attempting to drive after staying up for over a day and a half. His choice....not Cretes... He was not on duty that long. He did his 2 runs, went home, didn't sleep, went in the next day for his next 2 runs after his legal time off and was on the 2nd when the accident happened. No one pushed him beyond what the word 'NO' wouldn't solve. If he would have said no, then 7 kids and their grandfather would still be alive and he wouldn't be in jail. Plain and simple. He chose to do this, not Crete. I've been here 5 1/2 years, and not once - before or after the accident - have they ever asked me to run illegal!! They may question your claim of lack of hours from time to time (a.k.a. 'are you sure you don't have enough hours to run this?') because some drivers claim they don't have the hours just to get out of a load headed into an area they don't like to run or don't want to get stuck with, or don't feel like running. But if you insist or are legitimately sick or even just plain fatigued and feel you need to stop, then you aren't forced, threatened or pressured.

Crete does have concerns for their drivers...But make no mistake, they won't give away the store to appease all the drivers' problems. This is a business, not a vacation resort. They went out of their way to help me in March. They've gone out of their way to help me in the past when I had MRSA on my leg. I know of many drivers that they have gone out of their way to help in the past as well. Can they help every driver in every situation??...No way - what company can. But they do as much as they can to keep safe, hard working drivers that do their best to benefit the company, here and as happy as they can. They can't force shippers to load our trailers, they can't force people to buy more so that we have more to ship. And at the rate they are paying their drivers, they can only cut their rates so much before they lose money and go broke. Then we Cretins would all be out of a job.

As for ET...he mentioned in one of his posts something about his wife wanting a house and instead of a Condo...maybe he's house shopping. As good as he does here, I doubt - unless things took a dramatic turn for the worse overnight - that he would leave suddenly...unless someone heard that a large Lottery jackpot was won by someone living in the Phoenix area. If that's the case - hey ET - buddy... how about helping a brother trucker out??? I'm an orphan...want to adopt an older son????? I know this thread has gotten much larger and more popular than he ever expected...maybe he's burned out on posting and taking a bit of a 'post-free' break.

Anyway - a word to our fellow Crete/Shaffer/Hunt drivers. Check out the website about the changes to the New Kingstown terminal's accessibility. It turns out the county or township is taking part of our property to change the Rt. 11 path. We are losing part of our already tight parking area between the shop and the road, and some of the parking out back. It was under 'company news' when I logged in to check my paycheck the other day...I just forgot to mention it.

It's Friday afternoon now, and I'm still lounging about in this tiny PA fuel stop....
