You won't get many write offs.
And stick to the college plans our tax money is paying for.COBB2070 Thanks this. -
I really want to, I really like construction. But the problem is getting hired. Not many companies will hire an almost 50 something in the construction field. And when they are, the expect 20yrs experience behind you. After doing a cost benefit analysis, in the long run 10-15 years, I'll have more money towards retirement in trucking than construction. Same as when I went from cooking (20yrs mom&pop's to Hilton, Levy, Holland American Princess) to construction. I would have stayed in cooking. I went from making $50K/yr+ ($36K or more+housing+food+heathcare) to offers of $12/hr because I didn't go to culinary school, when I moved to SoCal from working resorts Just going to work it one day at a time.
And it's my tax money too, so I want to make sure it's not wasted. -
did you ask yourself why didnt he thank of that in the first place.COBB2070 Thanks this.

Last year when I was working construction and taking a semester off of school, I was offered a job driving non-CDL CMV's (16'-28'). But unfortunately after 6 months they lost 2 contracts and let go/laid off a 25-30 drivers. Low man on the totem pole. But I liked it a lot, especially the long runs to NorCal and farther. Unfortunately every place I applied to want's 1yr experience. I did pick up some part time work with a party rental place driving a 28' box truck delivering stuff for graduations, etc to keep the experience line going, but it is seasonal for the graduation season. I'll go back to school for construction if I have to, but I prefer to get into OTR or regional driving.
PS...And I just had my medical card renewed....truckdriver31 Thanks this. -
The job sounds super shady. If you want a legit LTL hourly job on a W2 it shouldn’t be hard to find one at your location that pays more than $17. As a general rule, if the job is 1099 it isn’t probably a good deal for you.
COBB2070 Thanks this. -
I called them back up and turned them down....TROOPER to TRUCKER and austinmike Thank this.

I’d pass on that job.

Thanks, he's already been a good help to me. Right now I'm waiting to see i'f I can transfer my remaining lob training funds to the state approved CDL school. I'f not, I'll go back to college for a semester and save for it my self, or maybe if I get stupid or desperate, go with a mega....
