I grew up riding with my dad in the summertime in his KW K100 cabover heading to the south (from PA) to pick up loads of watermelon or other produce. I would actually go out into the fields with the pickers and earn extra money for ice cream picking watermelon and loading the trailer. We would load right at the edge of the field. If I couldn't go in the field, my brother and I (if he was with me) would grab damaged produce as they were chucking it out of the packing shed and carve away the bad portion of what ever it was and chow down until we were so full we would nap under the trailer in the shade to get out of the hot GA sun.

Growing up Dad hauled all kinds of produce for a company called Eat More Fruit in Allentown, PA. When we would pull into the warehouse back home we would always walk out with grocery bags full of free food. Most of it from damaged boxes and such.

Some of the best memories I had as a kid were on the road with my Dad.

Even though im young i got memories from when i was a kid riding with dad and to this day i still do go riding with him, i learned roads directions. Now that he's an o/o i learn alot more riding with him now is more like a lesson. I have to watch how he drive's and shifts it's experience if i ever want to work in this field. I can't get that experience from some random guy at a truckstop.
