I’m actually in Zionsville right now (about 5 minutes west of the accident site) and they were actually doing road work on 465 on that stretch today (cut down to 1 lane in each direction from the Keystone interchange until you get past the I-69 interchange). Traffic was moving around 25-30 mph when I had to pass through there (about an hour prior to the accident).
That driver is DONE-they’re going throw the book at him.

I was thinking the same thing. And if another car did cut in front of him causing him to brake suddenly, then his truck would have already slowed significantly before impacting the car containing the mother and two children who perished.
Just an awful tragedy. -
If he was braking already? He wouldnt have caused the carnage he did. A lie to explain for his poor driving. Very sad, glad they got him off the road.

If the driver was braking to avoid or stop there would have been very big black marks.
Grammatical is a new word for me. I was never fond of English class. -
Hmmm, a debris field 3/4 of a mile long but he was only going 30 mph? A car cut him off and he hit his brakes and it made him lose control? That smells like the cattle pot that pulled in next to me at the fuel pumps the other day. I hope this guy gets at least as much time as the guy in Colorado.
I've been noticing that drivers, including drivers of big trucks, often don't slow down in construction zones. Sometimes they get irritated when I follow the signs and move over to the left lane (if the signs tell me to) and slow down to 55 or 45 or whatever the speed limit is. Earlier today a jerk in a big truck stayed in the right lane right up to the merge where the right lane was closed, even though there were signs warning that it was closed for a mile and everyone else had moved over. He just had to get ahead of another few trucks.
I drove through Indy yesterday afternoon, but I went through town since I don't have a placarded load and I was staying on I-70. Didn't even know this happened till I read it here. Very, very sad.Lepton1 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
