Texas has a lot of dry counties, and usually a bar or three at the county line where liquor again becomes legal. One such place is just east of Franklin Tx , I forget the name, but basically a settlement mainly consisting of 3 bar, liquor store combos. Small 2 lane highway running through, sped limit does not drop, or didn't back in the 55 days. One night I was going through and 2 guys were walking down the shoulder between the bars. One guy jumped out in front of me, the last thing I saw was the other go after him, I did not have time to hit the horn or even the brakes before the hood took them out of sight, no thud and looking in the mirror, the one guy had him and had pulled him back at the last second.
I never knew if the guy was just drunk or trying to commit suicide.
When I got to the stop sign in Franklin, the cop from that settlement was there at the convenience store talking to the franklin cop, so I let him know and he headed out there.tinytim, Canadianhauler21 and Lepton1 Thank this. -
There is a member here who sees no reason (and actually argues that it is unsafe) to check your mirrors while going down the road...those people walking ought to be glad it wasn't him in the truck, because he'd have no clue where his out would be or if it was open until he had time to study his mirrors...but by then, the pedestrians would've been bouncing off his bumper. It's OK, though, because he thinks his dash cam will clear him...

Good job keeping everybody safe.
