Walmart Transportation driver assessment on all drivers in the fleet.

I agree. I once picked up an empty at one of our stores and the release handle for the tandem slider was pulled out and the pins not engaged, the safety guy wasn't around there so when i got back i asked him if he did it and he said he would not do anything as drastic.

I don't know if he asked the previous driver if he moved the tandems and forgot to engage the pins or maybe left it like that so the next driver could slide them back a little as they were shoved all the way forward so is still a mystery to me.

 

Ive seen it as well. Like i said before, crap like that we humans sometimes miss when looking over a trailer. Doesnt make us any less safe as drivers or bad all around. They dont need to create problems. We deal with enough from outside the company property

 

We had a rash of that for a while too.

I understand some store have pits set up where axles need to be slid to make dock height, but cannot otherwise understand why people think they need to slide axles as much as it happens.

For a while our DART dedicated out of the twin cities was terrible about sliding them all the way forward no matter what. And cranking the landing gear 9 feet off the ground.

How half of them made it past the St Croix scale I have no idea.

Not to mention the downtime sitting at the store waiting for a vendor to come fix the problem they created.

 

They made it past the scale because half the time that scale is closed. At least that has been my experience.

And since its an outside lot. They aren't too keen on inspecting in inclement weather. Just like the MN side.

 

Backwards.

St Croix is the Minnesota side. It works 5-6 days a week. The EB scale in Wisconsin is in Roberts, WI.

That’s why I said that. Because sliding the axles forward throws the weights off significantly.

 

Yup, I always get those two mixed up. Not sure why. Probably because I seldom have to cross them. I usually cross at Stillwater, Taylors Falls, or Grantsburg.

 

Then why are safety people out spying on the drivers on the lots?
