He won't be driving a stick shift. He's going with a company that uses automatics. We're helping him find that job now. Most companies are dumping the stick shifts as they replace their trucks, except for specialized hauling companies.
Decker Truck Line is already 100% automatic.
Schneider advertises they're going that way as quickly as possible. Read that all trucks being ordered, beginning with the 2018's are automatics.

Any idea if this was an issuing screw-up, or if it seems like your school has some "sweetheart deal" going with local officials that guarantees y'all zero-fail, zero-restriction licenses regardless of how you test?

    Nope. Keep your mouth shut.

No auto restrictions mean you can drive anything. Go drive them.

    "They" = DMV messed up.

But if YOU the HONEST CITIZEN go back to DMV and willingly handcuff your future economic prospects by asking that the DMV put a auto restriction on you?

    no.

Just go forth and be productive.

I don’t think it’s the school because most of the students I’ve talked to do have the restriction on their license. It seems the dmv messed up on a few of us

Can you drive a manual? If so you dodged a bullet by testing somewhere that only had a automatic.

    • E - If the driver takes the Skills Test in a vehicle that has an automatic transmission, then an "E" no manual transmission restriction is placed on their license.

    and this from Pa DOT

    Commercial Restrictions
The following restrictions prohibit you from operating certain types of vehicles:

E – Prohibits driving a commercial motor vehicle equipped with a manual transmission.

make sure you recheck your CDL, that restriction may be there.

There have been a couple states invalidate a whole slew of licenses that are invalid and require a retest.
My first impulse is to let sleeping dogs lie. Of course this isn't a bill or something like that, It's very important it's correct.

No, unfortunately I think the best bet is tomorrow call the DMV when they open and ask about the status of your license.
