Absolutely. The way I read that question is that the guy is in his lane (let's say the granny lane), someone passes him, then cuts into his lane. How is that situation the fault of the guy in the granny lane?TruckGal13 Thanks this.

Yes we hired a driver several years ago that claimed he drove fro Quick-X and he did drive for quick-X but he did not WORK for Quick-X. He worked for a headhunting agency. My insurance company wanted proof of insurance history before they would cover this driver but as it turns out he was never listed as a driver on Quick-X policy. I learned that day this is quite common.
If some insurance companies see a gap in your coverage they might rate you as a new driver again with a high rate. My advice is to look at the insurance slip in your truck and call the number to see if you're actually listed on the policy. If not, you might not be getting the experience you think.FoolsErrand and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I wasn't present for any of the OP's transgressions, but in my experience 3 out of 4 drivers speed up when being passed, putting themselves in a position to be cut off.
Driver A in the right lane traveling at 60 mph speeds up to 65 mph to when being passed by driver B. If he does this 10x a day, I guarantee he will get cut off at least once every day. Throw in a couple of minor scratches and Driver A is now unemployed.
Any who drives knows this that's why I asked if it was a serious question on your part.Last edited: Sep 24, 2019
Oxbow, D.Tibbitt, exhausted379 and 3 others Thank this. -
I'm having a difficult time understanding how, or why, a driver would do something like that so that's why I had asked. Maybe I don't understand exactly how all of that went down.
I can tell you that I'll be in the granny lane going 65 and a truck passes me and then pulls in front of me with maybe a tad more than a car length between us. This happens to me at least once a day. Lots of times I notice that there's even faster traffic behind the guy who's pulling in front of me. I wonder if that driver is feeling the pressure of that traffic and that's the reason why they make their move too soon, IMHO. Regardless, it's an unsafe move on his part and forces me to react.FoolsErrand, tinytim and rank Thank this. -
I would guess you react by coming off the fuel and idling until you have reasonable space. As most of us would.
The OP stayed on the fuel and had a following distance of less than 2 seconds for more than 30 seconds.
From what the op has said, he sounds like a reactive driver instead of a proactive driver. He would do well to read

Yes.
And that simple explanation makes total sense. -
Happens to me every couple of minutes. It's worse in ON and QC than in the US from my experience. Most don't speak english and don't have radios so talking is useless. When possible, I change to the hammer lane thinking that a mirror full of grille will give them some perspective while increasing my following distanceLast edited: Sep 24, 2019
stayinback and Oxbow Thank this. -
It's a problem caused by speed limiters and made worse by radar. There is one driver in this thread that said he "has been known to speed up when being passed to encourage the passer to not pull in front of him".
I'm having a difficult time understanding how this doesn't happen to youstarmac Thanks this.
