Sage is a horrible choice for a truck driving school, it's a big rip off!!!

My brother just completed his training at Sage (in SLC, UT), and is now driving for FedEx. He's quite pleased with Sage.

I went to Sage. Each school is operated independently. Did you actually contact Sage corporate? The school I started with had a terrible pass rate and a road test backlog. I sent a message to corporate and the district manager set me up to complete training at another school rather promptly with no additional cost except the third party road test fee.

    Orlandodriver Thanks this.

I started training with Sage in Ft. Pierce, Florida a couple of weeks ago and it is a great school. They have access to a DOT grant for Veterans that is paying for my training. No complaints here.

Fabulous Maximus and Chinatown Thank this.

Yes, I'm the same way. I think some truck schools bank on people with previous driving experience. If you go in with no prior truck driving experience you're screwed.

Have you ever drove a truck before training?

Wanna know how I know you are lying? THERE ARE NO FEDERAL LAWS AS TO HOW SCHOOLS FOR TRUCKING ARE RUN! ELDT wasnt supposed to go into effect until Feb 7th 2020 but has since been punted for another 2 years. The feds dont have laws or rules regarding truck driver training, period.

Secondly, PTDI is an accrediting agency. They hold no jurisdiction over schools. Its a dying organization and 99% of the schools out there dont care about and are not members of PTDI.

Fine, Sage ripped you off. But you dont need to embellish with lies. Just get to work and put it behind you.

I never drove a truck before I had 0 experience when startet with school. It was frustrating because the people in my class already got a class b. I was embarrassed when it was my turn to go behind the wheel and backing up. Anyway I always came earlier and stayed to the end and guess what. I was the only one the passed the dmv test at the first try. I wasn’t with sage trucking school but I just here to say I almost give up at the beginning and now I have my cdl with all endorsements.

it’s funny I hear all kinds of misinformation from Drivers. I already had a college degree from Texas State University. Begin my training at Sage I’ve been a corporate executives with the company vehicle (I could have any American vehicle I wanted and I chose a diesel SUV that cost more money than a Cadillac). But the industry went bad and everyone was losing their jobs. It made me want to find stability and know that I always have a lifetime job I guarantee you I started driving a truck making very good money.. $3000 a week and more after establishing myself
I graduated from Sage with 100% average more than 20 years ago. At that time, I was the first student with 100% or so I was told. I’ve had a very blessed life since then, much of this I attribute to what I learned at Sage.

My life has been blessed, .. I have worked for the major carriers, including both UPS and ⭕️〰️Fedex (UPS was hands-down the best and being a teamster is fun) and I learned driving was just what I was told at Sage… don’t receive citations and don’t take drugs… don’t drive while intoxicated …. just basic principles, but all true… I don’t smoke or drink … smokers often burn holes in the truck interior, and so truck companies ,especially foreign companies, look for drivers that don’t smoke I don’t drink nor do I take any type of drug so I never have to worry about drug tests

I follow those principles taught at Sage as well as the skills I was taught. Like a miracle , I worked for companies that (to encourage me to return as an employee… offerred me thousands of dollars in the bonus.. in one case $30,000 and in the case of Walmart a $12,000 bonus to go to work for them the first time.

Some companies now require drivers to refresh their driving skills by attending driving classes on a day off. ✔️ Every so many years I talk to a company that wanted people to return to school to refresh knowledge and skills after eight years…. I learned with UPS that we pick up bad habits over time. So I actually gave Drivers at Driver tests to see what bad habits they had picked up The test reinforces our knowledge and reminds us of bad habits we might’ve picked up.

The biggest lie I hear from Trucking lCompanies says that PC has a federal limit in time or distance… PC is for the safety of the driver and it’s absolutely crazy to say that you can’t take PC when you’re laden… but every company I’ve worked for said this, and the actual PC law says for the safety of the driver there’s no limit to time or distance, and it doesn’t matter if you’re laden or unladen then we got a book of the federal motor carrier rules and regulations, and I’ve learned to look everything up. Always go to the original source because we’re constantly told stories that aren’t true.

At any rate, if you want a great career, I would definitely recommend Sage driving school. They are incredibly professional. The teachers are wonderful. You get individual attention. You don’t stand in line in freezing weather waiting for 15 drivers ahead of you to back their truck into a space The only misgivings I’ve had is recently. I dealt with someone that was totally unreliable and that would create problems for a busy driver. But for you students out there wanting to learn to drive…. I would say it doesn’t get better than Sage. At least it didn’t a couple decades ago.

Today truck driving Companies will actually ask you… if you attended Truck driving school and the answer makes a difference I find it curious because if you have a perfect driving record and never had a moving violation, you’d think that the companies wouldn’t care if you went to school or not but for many companies it’s a question they ask you

Rest assured it doesn’t get better than Sage.
