Family in the truck - bunk safety

I use this as an example because it's a complete WTF did you do that BIG TIME hit.

And if you weren't fastened in, you're dead, or even worse ruined for the rest of what agonizing life you'd have.

 

Forcible confinement for days on end aside......My T800 has a studio bunk with a sofa bed and two lap belts with shoulder straps. A car seat works the same as it does in the rear seat of passenger vehicle.

 

Life is way to short to let what ifs rule it in my opinion.
As far as I know legally there is no set limit on how many peoople can be in a big truck, many truck driving schools will have several in one at a time.
I have literally seen whole families, as in man, woman 3 or 4 kids and as many as 3 huge dogs get out of trucks at one time.

 

When I was a kid in the 60's, we would ride unrestrained in the back of a station wagon. And I'm still here to tell the tail. I was also known to run with scissors when mom wasn't looking.

Grew up riding in the back of pickups, heck even rode 600 miles in the back of a grain truck once, when we were helping my grand parents move. There was no such a thing as extended cabs, and very very few 4 door pickups back then. The single cabe were even a lot smaller, kids just naturally went in the back, and you know what, them kids had enough sense to not be falling out too. lol

 

Me and my sisters best memory was taking a 2000 mile summer vacation with our parents back about 1982 or so. In the bed of a Datsun pickup with the wenner dog. One of our jobs was keeping the “refreshments” flowing for dad as he drove.
Parents are dead and gone but we still talk about that trip on every holiday. My sister has pictures on her wall of that vacation too.

 

Last time I looked, school busses didn’t have seatbelts either. Maybe for the driver and the first row of passenger seating. They are full of kids and see them at full speed all the time?
