Finally got my own truck

Are the highways still torn up six ways to Sunday in that area? Last time I was in that area they were doing construction everywhere. Thank goodness I didn’t have to go to either truck stop as we have a terminal nearby in Jurupa Valley.

 

Starting out with a brand new Truck, is very hard for most. Once paid for, and ran a bit before trading, while it’s still has value, hopefully next new pymt will be less. Constantly upgrading for best results. That’s my observation, upgrade ASAP, or keep forever. Keeping forever, can take a long time to reap the benefits, with all costs considered. Along with more unexpected issues. Hardly worth it.

 

Keeping forever when it has an emission control system is a lot more painful. A OneBox DPF system overhaul costs about 12k, and will last around 500k miles, from what I have learned.

 

I'm now based out of Fontana. There are some major construction projects all around the basin. The projects that affect me most:

I-15 from CA-60 down past Cerrito Valley. I try to run this during off hours if at all possible, north or southbound.

CA-60 from I-15 to CA-91 has full closures. Avoid this stretch at all costs for the next month.

Other than that it's the usual mayhem that makes Houston tame by comparison.

That’s great and also answers my other question. I’m going to buy a truck soon and have done a lot of research on here and from all I’ve read JRV seems like a great place to drive for. I’m still in the process of looking for the right truck. Any and all info and advise would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a blessed day.

 

I would basically like to stay along the I-65 I-71 corridor if at all possible. I know there is a lot of automotive freight running up and down from Michigan to Tennessee. I live real close to Portland Tennessee so that’s why. By the way I have owned a truck before. Sold it back in 2009. Did pretty good delivered to Kroger stores and when that was slow delivered tires. I was home every weekend as well. Usually cleared over $2000 a week. Is it possible to be home on weekends with JRV and still make a decent check every week? I am married kids are all grown. Anyway enough for now.
