I will agree, if it’s something like ltl or like your gig. Dh on both ends and enough freight to keep you busy

I got it! I have a dog too, not sure how Tyson foods feels about dogs. I assume heavy loads? A good part that I read is the DH.

edit : just checked their leasing areas. I’m from Phoenix. Not listed. Can I bobtail over, and if so, can I get home ever is the question. I wouldn’t learn about good freight lanes rates etc getting dispatched, but prob a plus for me as a noob though to eliminate that worry. It looks pretty good. Me buying my first truck and not having a trailer payment would be yuuuuge, so that type of deal is attractive

Don't be scared of staying out flat bed. Learning securement and learning how to run a truck profitably are two totally different things, so the learning curve doesn't increase.

Think about it, when you was in grade school they taught you math and reading in the same day. You didn't wait till you mastered multiplication before learning to read.

True. And I’m sure there would be an early moment at Mercer where seeing the 25-40% bigger checks of flatbed guys where those concerns sort of get overcome. I know how to strap loads already with the ratchet bar. Chaining and other methods though, nada. The flatbeds are lease too as opposed to vans which are rental. Perhaps a distinction without a difference. But a little cheaper.

Securement is basic common sense stuff. And when in doubt reference a guide book. Mercer wil stick you through a one or two day securement class so you will have at least a basic understanding.
