Just saw that a lot of Colorado from Bennett to KS, north of I-70 has been placed under a blizzard warning until this evening. I know it`s windy here in Burlington...I already have a 6" snow drift on the front deck of my double drop.

The shareholders are demanding profits. Officially no one has replaced Don yet.

Did the old owners of Schilli also leave after the buyout? I"m wondering if they are merging companies where the old owners left first.

Have you looked at going to SPD? I know a driver who lives in Central Florida and has good things to say about SPD. Plans to retire there.

Not sure about Schilli to be honest. I would forget they were part of Daseke when people would ask how many companies he had scooped up recently.

As far as SPD, they didn't pay close to what I would call acceptable for flatbed/conestoga freight. I could honestly do better pulling a reefer. Besides, I am wanting to distance myself from Daseke completely. When Daseke was running it full time, it wasn't bad, but then he went public, and it started going downhill fast. Now that he has stepped into a sideline position, it's all about bottom line profitability. When that happens, the employees generally become expendable second class citizens.

To give a glimps at how things run here now, we got a msg from someone in Fargo. I think he is in operations management somewhere.(they have so many VP's and Chiefs, it's hard to tell who's who). Anyway, he sent a message trying to quash any rumors about pay, vacation and PC that are floating around. But, the only reason there are runors and speculation is because they tell us NOTHING. In fact the difference between Wylie drivers and mushrooms is that mushrooms get a healthy dose of b.s. we're just kept in the dark. Now I know what it's like to be a Private in the Army. Everything is above my paygrade and on a need to know basis, and us ####### truck drivers don't need to know. Even my dispatcher is starting to go over to the Wylie way of doing things. Getting him to do anything outside normal routine is like pulling frog hair.

The roads between Burlington, CO and Bennett went from "snow storm, what snow storm" to " polished with a Zamboni for the next ice follies". And often times, within a mile of each other.

Things got a wee bit icy on the way back to Spring Hill this a.m. Between Oakley, KS and Salina it was snowing just enough to cover the lines. Between Salina and Topeka it was freezing rain, but it was only icing the elevated surfices and vehicles, the road surface was just wet.

On a huge run (he says sarcastically). Out of Spring Hill to Owatonna for MONDAY. And to make matters worse, it is loaded on one of our EZ-roll double drops. Which are incorrectly named, they should be named the hernia producers or workers comp claim trailers, anything but EZ-roll. They can be such a PITA that one of our former drivers got so sick of trying to get it to open that he unhooked his tractor from the trailer, somehow tied to the straps on the outside of the track to the clevis on his truck, and commenced to rip some of the roller rails (and the tarp connected to them) off the track. Yes, they are that frustrating to open AND close, I have been tempted to use my truck a time or two to open them...and leave it open for the return trip to the plant. The only trailers that are more of a PITA are the Wylie conestogas.
