Chains required on Hogback mountain (west of Brattleboro) if snowing. Big fines and dangerous times for ignoring.
He will spend ten times more on fuel than tolls going this way.
And unless he's a native he's gonna wish he stuck to the big road!
Supposed to be freezing rain up here in the mountains this weekend. That road will be like the inside of a bottle.JonJon78 Thanks this. -
So how much is mass pike then? Since they removed the cashboxes- They dont display the fees......
Wait a second- We live in a world of idiots and nobody questions anything- Just the way the Lefties want it.
Frickin signs say- "We'll Bill you"Brettj3876 and mitmaks Thank this. -
Albany to I-290 is probably $15.00 to $18.00.
Don't really know exactly because I usually run the back roads, as that's where my business is, and I know every hill and gut, so I'm comfortable, whereas a feller from away might feel overwhelmed in a storm.JonJon78 Thanks this. -
I don't pay too close attention to the easy- pass monthly bill. By the time the bill comes I've forgotten where I was and why and what the distance was. It is what it is.
I do know my fuel economy on the interstate makes up for the cost of tolls, compared to pulling grades on the low side every other 3 minutes.JonJon78 Thanks this. -
I've done 7-9-101 plenty of times, the fuel you'll save running the big road will far exceed the toll cost. As tolls go the Masspike is not terribly expensive either.

Bon Bon Mobil in my town of Merrimack, NH is really nice and 10 minutes from Manchester
mitmaks Thanks this. -
I was looking at that truck stop. In trying to make it there to do reset
-
I’ve shut down there once or twice a long time ago up in Merrimack.
I agree with some of the others that staying off the small roads up in that part of the county is probably wise this time of year. Stay on the big routes when possible. I’ve been all the way up at Rouses Point crossing Lake Champlain on 2 trying to cut across to Burlington and some of those roads gets scary in the winter. -
You wanna drive in the northeast, pay the toll or leave it to the local guys. I hate seeing big trucks doing 15 MPH through towns because they are trying to save a dollar.
Swine hauler Thanks this.
