Here's the deal, the truck is a Maxxforce. Do your research. It's a total piece of crap. And you will not be happy nor profitable.
You lucked out by asking us first.
    Research the truck.

I don’t know what engine yet. But based on what everyone is saying.... I don’t think I’ll do this.

Good choice. If you have time check on what it costs a new O/O to start up. Insurance, licensing, a place to park, all these things cost a lot of money. Figure your fuel costs and wages for the first couple of months...until your cash flow gets rolling...and see if you have enough in your pocket to run.
Buying a truck is the easy part. Keeping it rolling and making good business decisions is a little harder.

I agree with all the above. Run from this deal.
They are always desperate for owner operators to run the ports , it’s not work you want to do , low pay , aggravation at the port with long wait times , problems with chassis etc.
A 2013 prostar with a max force is junk. Even
deleted they’re junk. There were class action lawsuits against international because of this engine. Dealers wont work on deleted trucks
And they’re almost impossible to sell . They will also fail a snap test ( road side emmisions test by DOT or DEC) which they do in NY and NJ and then you will have expensive fines and unusable truck unless you put back all the emissions. Trust me if this truck and deal were so great they would be running it themselves. I’ve heard the only thing they can do with these trucks is export them cheap because they’re such a known piece of junk here in the US.
DOT was on the warpath Upstate this week with the final phase of the ELD mandate going into effect and the were checking trucks around the clock for 3
Days in some locations ( route 17 west in Owego).
I was stopped and they checked my paperwork and DEC and DOT were there and the DEC inspector told me they will be looking for deleted trucks and disconnected emmisions equipment more this coming year . They know what to look for , trucks that smoke when the pedal is mashed, blocked off
EGR coolers ( a dead giveaway to a deleted truck)
and failing a snap test , when they put an air monitoring probe in your exhaust stack and have you “ snap “ the pedal to the floor . The emmisions monitoring device can tell the truck has been deleted by the exhaust emmisions coming out of the
    Exhaust.

They are trying to sell you a truck that no reputable shop will work on.

To explain a bit more, if you take the emissions systems out of a truck, any company that wants to stay in business won't touch that truck.

Forever more, you will only be able to have shade tree mechanics and ####hole shops work on the truck.

If you, personally, are a diesel mechanic, or if you have a relative who is, and is willing to work on an illegally modified truck, then you might consider it - IF you have the tools and shop available as well.

Otherwise, this truck is a money pit the first time you want a real shop to work on it, because they will NOT work on it unless you let them restore the emissions systems first.

OP that is a $7000 truck.

It is a hacked truck that is being used for port work and that isn't easy on trucks.

Not calling you a liar... but I don’t see how it’s DOTs jurisdiction too look for deleted trucks. It’s a EPA issue.
