That is crazy . Seems all these companies is 300 trucks or less. Makes me worried, company im with is about 200 trucks and freight is unusually slow with them right now. Maybe time to throw in the towel

The stats in the article tell the story. Out of service rate for vehicles well above industry average, lots of DOT reportable accidents.
This management has reacted to the lower and lower rate structure by not maintaining the equipment and hiring shakier and shakier drivers, a deadly combination, culminating in the death of a motorist and paralyzing of her passenger.
The effect is that an insurance company made the decision to put things in motion to stop this irresponsible carrier.
It should have been the FMCSA.
Many more will die and get injured at the altar of "free shipping". And the heavy regulations designed to prevent them are wholly ineffective.beastr123, jamespmack, WildTiger1990 and 8 others Thank this. -
Yeah, and that's BEFORE the new 50% drug testing takes effect. $50 to$70 MILLION more these carriers are going to have to cough up. I tell ya' we ain't seen nothing yet. All I can say, is in the near future, you drivers better have an ace in the hole. These companies pulling the plug with little notice. As old timers, we can look at the big picture here, we've seen a lot, and this stuff tells me, a meltdown is around the corner, we've seen it before, not to this extent, however.Last edited: Jan 1, 2020

Fleetwood was for many years affiliated with Dart. I had a friend that was with Fleetwood back in the mid 90s. Fleetwood ran a lot of 57 ft dry vans then.
And with all of these companies closing, we still have over capacity in this industry. Just too many available trucks.blairandgretchen, ExOTR, buddyd157 and 4 others Thank this. -
