Back when I owned a truck, Prepass was worth it just to bypass Banning. Had to go through 3 times a month for a time.

There seems to be a large amount of confusion on here about CSA scores and Inspection Selection Scores (ISS).
CSA scores are "awarded" based on the violations you receive during inspections (weighted by severity and time). Not getting inspections will not drive them up, and you do not default to a high one that you need inspections to bring down.
The ISS (which last time I paid attention logged into the FMCSA portal for a biennial update was viewable there) is based on how recently you've been inspected and the violations on your record. If you have many violations or haven't been inspected often/recently, it'll be higher and the enforcement officer that is looking at it will be more likely to pull you around/over for an inspection.Last edited: Jan 8, 2020

Banning is the only scale in California that I haven't been pulled into.kemosabi49 Thanks this.

For me Drivewyze is much better. I have not had any inspections in the last 2 yrs and always get Bypass. It also works at many stations that do not have Prepass. I have 4 weigh stations within 50 miles of where I live, neither have Prepass but Drivewyze gives me a green light every time.kemosabi49 and TallJoe Thank this.

It's worth it for me out here on the left coast. I very seldom get a red light. There are times when the scale house will turn off the transponder signal because they want to take a look. That's very seldom in my experience.TallJoe Thanks this.

I was first contacted by Email from PrePass the FMCSA just returned my voicemail.I don't avoid scales but there are not very many on the routes I take and with PrePass I hardly ever have to pull in.
I only have been hauling plants from a greenhouse so never over 20K for weight so no reason to avoid them.
I talked to a Trooper he said he could do a level 3 for me, so I think that's what I will have to do as soon as I get all my 2020 ducks in a row.PE_T Thanks this. -
I really like it,I think the price is $14.00 for mine but for some reason everyone has a little different bill. They have an App now for your phone or tablet that will work in places where the transponder will not.

That's interesting. I guess, the app will communicate with Prepass via 4G, similarly to the CAT scale app.
-
That is how my Drivewyze works, off an App. It communicates with the unit inside the weigh station 2 miles before you get to the station. When you set it up you can snap a photo of your truck/trailer and upload it. I assume they can see that on their screen when you Bypass.

Frankly, I did not know there was an alternative to Prepass. I wish, I had explored that option before I ordered Prepass. Well, it is 30 days trial, so I'll keep Drivewyze in mind.whoopNride Thanks this.
