Drive Cams for Roehl?

Huge amount of Immigrants coming into the country year after year, about a million a year legally and they will fill the seats for the megas and from where they are coming from, trucking will be a dream job for them.

 

Something that hasn't been mentioned is that these companies pay about $1.00 per minute to pull footage. That doesn't sound like much until you multiply it times the number of trucks. A company of 1000 trucks would pay $1000 to watch every driver for just 1 minute. I drove for Beelman and they gave us this figure at one of the semi annual safety meetings. They gave us this figure to encourage us to keep any footage request to as precise as possible.

I drove for Roehl and my wife's comment was that they wanted to control their drivers to the point of telling them how many squares of toilet paper they should use.

 

Former Rohel driver. Yes, it's true.. they have dash and driver facing cameras in their trucks, not even the lease operators are spared from this.
The cameras also have audio recording, their safety guy admitted it.
However, this company has far more serious issues than just their drive camera. I've heard they they treat their experienced drivers well.. unfortunately though it's at the expense of new drivers.
If you don't already have a CDL, you will be asked to sign a $7,000 contract, with no guarantee of a job. Your still an at-will employee under the contract and can be terminated for any or no reason. That in of it self should be a sign to steer clear of this company.

 

I drive for Jrayl.. they *do* not have driver facing cameras.
None of my solo trucks even had a dash camera. I'm not sure what the definition of mid size is, but I belive the company has 500 drivers.

 

Nursing home,hospital?? Medical office that does randoms??

Oh I get it, many of you us have taken different paths to where we are now. Don’t be surprised when owner operators are required to have driver facing cameras. The main driver behind them is the insurance industry.

You can always stand outside all night with me in minus degrees , my spotter has no camera or heat.
I'd stay right there with the heat and camera on.
