Hello, I've got a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia and recently the plastic oil suction manifold ruined the engine. I need to replace the engine and wanted to know the dd15 years that I can look at that would transfer nicely? Or perhaps what needs to be done or looked at for making the transfer?
I'm looking at some used engines around the 9k-15k mark on the Vanderhaag website. Has anyone had experience with them? Any trustworthy places to get engines from? Thanks.

I have bought some stuff from them with no problems but not engines. Have a friend that has bought some from LKQ with no problems. Warranty? Do they put bearings in them? Kerns?Rideandrepair Thanks this.

In 2013 I dropped an 11.1 L S60 Detroit I bought from Vanderhaags into my 2002 FRTL Century. $1,500 engine and got 325k miles before it needed a rebuild. I'd say I got my money's worth. I also bought 2 rebuilt differentials from the in 2017, and they are still going at 800k miles. I also bought a rebuilt air compressor from them that was a lot cheaper than a rebuild Bendix from anyone else. Vandehaags was also less expensive than any other place I called for the diffs. I just came across the engine while at their place in Council Bluffs, and jumped on it because the Century's engine started consuming 1 gallon of oil every 3k miles (I was driving a second truck I owned at the time). A very experienced mechanic who has done a lot of work on my trucks for 24 years uses Vanderhaags. I trust them a lot.
Hammer166, BoxCarKidd and nikmirbre Thank this. -
Any one selling used parts is going to get a bad report some times. I have bought some things from them and they have been as represented.Hammer166 Thanks this.

You just missed out on a liquidation if Cascadias on an auction. Look attention Auctioneers website, Pomona Missouri. I dunno what they got now. I know they’ll have an online auction in December. They always do.
BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
Company I work for has bought from both , LKQ they bought a cat engine middle 90s year model, it ran for 300,000 ish before rebuild. Only thing LKQ said they resealed it , but front crankshaft seal and front cover both leaking. Kerns they have bought and had rebuilt by them trans. Diff and rear cutoff. I don't know if Richard Still runs things I haven't been by there lately. I'd be more likely to buy from Kerns . I live about 40 miles from them and have delt with them many times with good results.BoxCarKidd Thanks this.

Kinda funny timing, 2 weeks ago was hanging around Freightliner Dallas South for my injector issue.
Talked with a guy who was buying 15, I crap you not, 15 trucks to part them out. Showed me the check for $642,000 dollars. Most all of them Cascadia 126's with a blown motor for oil tubes, each at over 500K miles, 2015-2020 models. Said he makes more parting out trucks than running them.
Guy said he was up there every month buying broke trucks.
And I believe him, because 10 minutes into the conversation the dressed up guy in a suit and the hot 20 something secretary came over and issued him into an office to personally take his money. -
over 40k a piece roughly,,,, I dont think id pay that much for one that runs......

I hate it for you man.. That;s just nothing anyone wants to experience. You're talking minimum 30 grand, at $2 a mile that 5 years to pay off.
Where are you?
