this past summer i was in KY heading to IL, the day time high on this day was right around 110. there was this big beautiful peterbuilt behind me and i had asked him a few times to get off my bumper. i was running at my governor (72mph) and he had more than enough room on I24 to go around me. instead of going around me he kept sneaking up, then backing off. i got him on the cb and told him im at governor speed, and i wasn't going to be able to move any faster. he mumbled something not very polite into his radio and snuck up on me again. this time when he did it, one of my trailer tires blew out. it sent a big chunk of rubber at his truck. the rubber hit his bumper, hood and one of his headlights. he got on the radio and started yelling at me for something that was beyond my control. needless to say i pulled over, and he went by waving the new york sign for hello at me.

Not taking sides here. Would it not have been easier to back off your governed truck(72mph) a couple of seconds for him to pass? The whole situation could have been avoided over the cb. :yes2557:

I've done that a lot..slowing down a few mph to get rid of the guy tailgating behind me. If that doesn't work, I just get on the radio and lie! Tell the tailgater that I've got bad tires on the trailer! Most of the time they will get away...quick!

Another time years ago a car was drafting me going across Arizona, tailgated me long enough that his car overheated and quit!

Aww. Too bad the gator didn't wrap around one of his axles and send him crashing into some inanimate object. Snots like that deserve to be taken off the road.

No....sorry. Guess that's just the rebel in me. But if I'm running as close to the speed limit as I can (my truck is governed at 64) and you wanna go by me, that's what the left lane is for. Keep in mind you came up behind me , so why not just move yourself on over about 10' to the left and keep on hammerin' ? Why is it my job to make concessions for you, when I'm doing all that I can already?

i agree with ssbowles. this guy was an o/o and it was obvious his truck ran a lot faster than mine did. like i said, there was more than enough room for him to swing out in that hammer lane and pass. i'm just sorry it had to be a peterbuilt that it happened to. personally im a KW man, and dont much like the other makers, but this pete was BEAUTIFUL.
