I know I said I wouldn't but with some of the dedicated opportunities and how much i.m seeing this year I am pulling the trigger on my second truck this month .
It is kind of a proof of concept to the old lady, if it works truck 3 thru 5 in March and i.ll buy a friend's three truck fleet with drivers in July.
Anyone else adding trucks this year

A word of advice, never buy a friend's anything unless you are willing to do your due diligence on his business and trucks.
In other words treat it as a strangers business and buy it accordingly.LoneCowboy, magoo68, SteveScott and 2 others Thank this. -
Friend ie mechanic trucks have been thouroughly gone through and rebuilt ...all three have 12.7 Detroit's and we share notes quite often...the price on the trucks is reasonable but my interest is that they come with long-term drivers and I would only jump in that pool if I spoke to the drivers and they we're part of the deal

I’m still holding in place right now.
I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but in my short experience I’ve seen cycles.
If you can go into it from a strong cash perspective it may weather any rough seas.
Just my 2c. -
That's is where i.m at truck one paid off truck two is a lease with option but I can return at any time no harm no foul (big honking deposit on that one ) and the three truck deal with drivers would run me 80k and that would be a cash transaction......all trucks would be running dedicated 50% Mt home 2to three times a week avg gross revenue around 5400 a week and recession proof frieght ...carrier covering all trailer expenses and cargo ins

It's like gambling. Only play with the amount you can afford to lose. It sounds like a sweet deal that will likely pay off for you well. But don't leverage yourself so deep that it will ruin you should things not work out as planned. Financial rewards don't come without taking financial risks.

I was in the process of searching for another truck to add for a driver who my current driver recommended I add to our little family.
I had only spoken with him on the phone, I ran his credentials and his job hoping made me nervous. Turns out for good reason. He decided to go with another mega flatbed company.
My current driver is doing excellent. I'd love to find another like him. How ever,.. he has plans to buy his own truck (Cash) and go the O/O route. I have promised to guide him and get him started with that. At his current rate of finances,. he estimates he should be ready to make the jump by next summer. That will be barely 1.5 yr working for me. I dont think I will ever find another driver like him,.. so I will probably sell off or part out the hoopty and just stay solo.
Not sure how other guys manage it,.. but its a lot of stress making sure someone elses livelihood and family is taken care of. I dont think I could handle an idiot or self entitled A hole working for me. So once I get him going on his own,.. I'm just going to focus on my retirement.
