The down hill mode on the DT12 transmission is nice it's very strong engine brake. You can go down hills without even touching the regular brakes.

    Steel Dragon Thanks this.

Volvo has factory authorized recycling that I've read about. But that's the only company I have read that about.

These auto shifts are the #### nitz with the heavy duty RV hauler crowd. But that's not a very large market. Time will tell.

automated transmissions are ok when you have warranty on them. after 600-650k miles you will pay big bills for towing and repairs... I would not keep DT12 after 600k miles..

I keep coming back to the demon possessed Volvo, and it having to be towed over a thousand miles to get a dealer to honor the warranty.

It now has a warranty on the transmission, again, or yet.

The downtime would have broke a single truck operation. Keeping it close to home hasn't worked out, either.

We've got a 13' mack with M-drive. The only issues with that truck we've had are with transmission system. The biggest is the truck no recognizing the brake peddle, either won't shift into gear or when moving won't disengage the clutch (that will scare the #### out of you). I've also had problems with the hill assist locking up and not releasing. I've got a great driver who has a auto restriction from the Military that drives that truck, kinda a necessary evil I guess.

    at 900k miles or so......

Was not stranded per say. The truck acted up and the transmission service light started flashing. Had to pull the fuse to shut the trans controller down and reset it. Acted up again so grabbed the codes with the Paclink. Shop says XY was starting to go bad so replaced the Assembly and the harness to the trans as apposed to the individual motor/sensor. Replaced the harness because individual contacts within the connector can sometimes get larger with vibration causing intermittent opens.

I'll pay the $2k to fix it over the left knee pain.
