Hey guys,
New to the forum and fairly new to the trucking biz.
Sometimes when splitting a gear from low to high I get a clunking sound, like as if there is slack in there or something.
Happens when loaded or empty.
I'll be driving, foot on throttle, flip from low to high, left off the throttle and CLUNK!
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Transmission is an 18 speed Eaton Fuller on a Tandem 1998 kenworth with an N14 4:30 diffs. Also just had the front diff replaced.

Split or range? Split has no synchronizer IIRC.
If its the split, may want to check the regulator on the transmission. The transmissions are designed to work at something like 70 or 75 PSI. Not sure of the exact spec but if the piston is getting full 120 PSI I believe it can cause harsh engagement during the low to high split.Oxbow, Deere hunter and 650cat425 Thank this. -
It's the splitter, grey thumb switch on the side, and I have it narrowed down to gears 5 and 6. When splitting from low to high in either of those gears it's sometimes clunks. I can split every other Gear with no issue -
Ever figure out what the problem was?
