Can someone help me with this I have a 2016 freightliner dd15 Cascadia with 45000 miles on it and every once in awhile all of a sudden if I cut my truck off it won't turn back over, 3 to 4 times this happen to to now, I have to get a push to clutch start it by pop clutching it. I took it to the freightliner but they can't tell me what's going on until it's happening has anyone had this problem what their truck?

When you try to start truck is there any noise, when keying to start?
-
Bad starter? Have you hit it with a hammer?
-
Will it crank or what exactly does it do?

When the truck fails to start, do you hear any tones or beeps that are not normal?
My truck always gives a steady tone for a while, then the OnGuard system beeps once when it is finished calibrating. Then I crank it, and there are no more electronic noises.
When my starter failed, and when my batteries were bad, there was an additional beeping while turning the ignition. -
1) Check your battery connections and connections to starter. They all go on one big bolt, and it can come loose.
2) Could be the clutch / starter safety interlock. SLAM your clutch pedal all the way down several times, see if it starts. This can be defeated by taking like a #8 or #6 gauge wire and touching it from the positive lead ( red ) on your alternator to the large bolt I mentioned on the starter.
3) If bypassing the clutch safety switch doesn't work, you probably need a starter.
Just replaced one in Truck 2 just like yours, similar mileage.Farmerbob1 and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
My international did this right from the git go, It might do it and then not do it again for 5 months to a year. I could jump across the solenoid just enough to make a sound, then hit the start button and it would start.
After 4 or 5 years I finally went ahead and changed the starter and cured it. I could have just changed tthe solenoid I am sure. -
that clutch safety switch be my guess, idk why they even put em on crapcadias
