Are the vast majority of these inspections done at scale houses? Do they open all the random roadside spots or just pull you over for a level one? All of the above? I've heard lots of negative things about DOT officers almost making #### up during these things and I want to plan my week accordingly. I pre/post trip (especially coming up on the blitz), run well maintained equipment, and log driving time correctly. Still, I've read countless people times if you get the wrong inspector you're ####ed.
Usually done at scale houses and rest areas. If you have your act together, don't sweat the Blitz. It happens every year and is not a big deal.
True. Just wanted to add another point. Not all the states do it at the same time. Some states hit it hard and some don't. Honestly, post #3 tagged it!
This years focus is on suspension and steering. Each year they choose a focus point like brakes, driver fitness, tires, etc....I’ve never once had an issue during a blitz and some states completely disregard it altogether.
They used to setup at the tolls, NJ, Md, and Pa. EZ pass nixed that. If you keep you're truck clean and well maintained, you shouldn't worry. If you're driving junk that's falling apart and can't speak good English you don't have any worries, they know they won't get paid so they don't bother. It's luck of the draw, being in the wrong place and all that.
To me, it seems more hype than anything else. Driving a good number of years and I wouldn't even know it was happening without people talking about it.
