I've heard that there are some companies that have cameras facing the driver that record everything you do and say. Is this true? Why would companies want to do this?
What do you guys think about it?
I know i wouldn't want to be recorded. Can you opt out of being recorded?

Refuse to work for a company that uses driver facing cameras and be sure to tell them that's why you're turning the job down. The more drivers that do this, the less likely it will become more popular. Those who don't have zero right to complain.

My company has a inward and outward facing camera. It records on a 12 second loop. They say it's a tool to protect them and the driver, and claim they are unable to turn it on when they want. If so, they've yet to turn mine on. I've caused to to turn on about 5 times since I got in the truck 3 weeks ago. Mostly with hard bumps or hitting a large pothole when taking turns. Never been called to say I was doing anything unsafe

The DriveCam website used to say that it could be remotely activated.
And they can adjust the sensitivity and triggers to record an event.Rusty Trawler and Getsinyourblood Thank this. -
I am leased to a.company that has them in their company trucks. I get the we QC messages they do and they sent a warning about noticing a lot of drivers talking on their phones... So they are watching them.
