Again, I say motorcyclists do the exact same thing I do. But it is a moot point. Gopro 6is coming out with a 360 degree camera, I plan on using it either on my head or attach one each to each of my interior doors to capture everything in a wide circle. In the editing software the end user can select specific view video feeds from the 360 degree recording. This is only 2018, can't wait to see what tech they come up with 20,40 100 years into the future of videotaping.

In some jurisdictions, a motorcyclist can receive a citation for a helmet mounted camera.

Don't spoil his fun, he is on a roll

Do not cloud the issue...
Only if it exceeds 2/10ths of an inch above the profile of the helmet. Otherwise it is perfectly legal for motorcyclists to use helmet mounted video cameras. -
I'm not clouding the issue any more than you are. Motorcyclists don't have a dash to mount a camera, so they do the next best thing, and for the same reason many run a dash cam in their cars and trucks. They want to be able to prove that the car pulled out in front of them because they may be laid up in a hospital bed or dead, leaving the car driver's story as the only thing anybody hears. It's a CYA thing, not an "I wanna be Youtube famous" thing like you've got going on. Nobody cares about your insignificant little life, and I feel sorry for anyone who thinks they are learning anything other than what NOT to do from the crap you post. YOU are distracted by your own video making, because whether you want to believe it or not, you are creating dangerous situations around you with the intent to catch something on film that will garner hits on youtube. When you alter the way you drive becoming more dangerous to yourself and those around you BECAUSE of the camera and what you're hoping to get the opportunity to film, it is a distraction.
spyder7723, 48Packard and SAR Thank this. -
It is not illegal to film with a handsfree camera while driving but it is illegal to hold and/or reach for a cell phone while driving.
I'm not the only trucker out there with a head mounted handsfree bodycamera. I am spreading the word on how to do it and tons of truckers out there are doing it. Check out Ron Pratt who I believe is out in your neck of the woods, a heavy tow truck operator who films all of his recoveries including driving while filming with his head mounted camera. -
I've seen some of his videos, and they make me nauseous. You can't mount a camera to your head AND keep your head steady enough to get a good video AND see everything you need to keep an eye on while driving. 2 out of 3 is the best that can be done. So, you either end up with unwatchable videos, or you are dangerously distracted trying to make a good video.

Yes I get those comments a lot, some people get seasick from watching the videos. Still, many many others enjoy the new way of presentation, actually feel they are the ones driving the truck. The key is to not focus so much on every detail as we have been Pavlov dog trained to do by big TV and Movie studios.

Here's a thought: if they want to experience what it's like to drive a truck, they should go drive a truck! If they want to learn how to drive a truck safely, your viewers are watching the wrong videos.
