I think the problem with my engine only attaining 1800rpm, is in the ECM. I think the ECM thinks something is being tampered with and limiting the rpm’s, to limit speed. This truck has been programmed to only accelerate to 70mph. I want rid of that feature but more importantly I’d like it to tach more than 1800 when going through the gears. Where can I find a replacement ECM?

I'd check to make sure ecm isn't programmed to limit the speed and rpm first. My first choice to check it out is Pittsburgh Power. They are little pricey, but they are good and thorough, with the electrical engineers on staff. I've had 2 ecms worked on by them, and once they found a ground problem-when I only brought it in to be reprogrammed-that was not worth (just about beyond) repairing compared to buying another. And the price for that ecm was just about as cheap as any as I could find on my own (yes, I checked pricing after I gave them the go ahead to get one for me). It's been a while, but ecms were fairly expensive. I don't think you will be charged much for diagnosis with anyone.

It’s programmed to limit speed and that wasn’t as big of a problem, as now it’s limiting rpm to 1800. When I first start it up, it’ll tach rpm’s beyond 1800 but drive it a mile or two and it’s like hitting the brakes, when the rpm’s drop down to 1800. Makes it hell when up shifting and down shifting, when loaded.

Or them too. Fernando used to work for them and went out on his own.

I had my DD3 worked on and tuned by him - full test benches, worth the $.

I'm outside Ft Smith, headed to Sioux Falls Monday. If you'd be anywhere near those places i'll drop it off, or if anybody you know coming through here can grab it.

    I'll PM you my #

Where would this truck read its speed? Maybe the vehicle speed sensor is bad?
