My drivers license has a few bumps on it . Would it be beneficial to take a Driver improvement class before pursuing my CDL ? I’m in Virginia and it would ad 5 positive points to my license .

I don't know anything about that. If you are running 7 or 8 points facing potential suspension in say Maryland then a class reducing you to 2 or 3 would be beneficial.
It goes without saying whatever those tickets were, stop it. Your CDL is too precious a resource.
By the way, the class Maryland provides for has a specific person in authrity over your ability to hold same will chew you out one way for 15 minutes. When you are properly in fear of god and groveling at his feet, he will let you go. Provided you don't get anymore tickets.Last edited: Mar 31, 2019

I haven’t gotten my CDL yet , I’m referring to my standard drivers license I made that clear in my post . The bump was not coming to complete stop at a stop sign .

You should be able to find a defensive driving course online. They are pretty easy to complete, not too expensive and (in my state) give you a points reduction on your license as well as reduce your insurance rates.
Could help you get your career started or at least save you some $$LouisvilleSlugger8.5 Thanks this. -
Technically companies are only interested in comercial vehicle miles and any accidents you may have had. They will also be concerned about speeding tickets. Anything else is moot to them. If you have alot of speeding tickets with in the last three years, they will frown on offering you work.
Yet you might get @Chinatown to chime in as he is the best one here to tell you what companies will take you.LouisvilleSlugger8.5 Thanks this. -
How old are the tickets and what are they for?
