I just had the dumbest conversation with a dispatcher at the Jackson Ms. terminal. I ordered a new pallet jack and specifically stated with the shipper that no semi for delivery as my street is not accessible. I called Jackson terminal to confirm and told them again about the access and be sure to not send a trailer. I said that I would be glad to pick it up at terminal and save the hassle and was informed that it would be additional charge for me to pick it up. WTF! I have been in the industry since 1969 and never had any experience like this. So I got a phone call from the driver that he couldn't get into my street and I had to go up to the main county road and get it with my pickup. Never again Averitt.
Dispatchers?

I had dealings with Averitt once.
Ordered trailer tires, like I’ve done for years.
Usually it’s FedWrecks or DHL.
Once it was Averitt, and the driver couldn’t find my address.
I gave directions, dude still got lost because he wouldn’t follow the directions.
So I had to drive 100 miles to their terminal and pick them up, and my thanks were to back to a dock and load them myself.
I now have a different tire supplier as well.
Wont take a chance of them using that company who charged for delivery that was never made.
I never signed any BoL either so if they showed that, it was a forgery.

Plenty of freight companies around to choose from.

Basically they wanted to charge you more for saving them time and money? I recently had some parts transported by Averitt. Averitt farmed out the final mile delivery to one of their local cartage company partners. The company rep called and said they had attempted delivery 3 separate times and would be sending it back to the shipper. The ring doorbell camera said otherwise, but it was more convenient for me to pick it up at the dock anyway. They didn’t try to charge extra for me picking it up. The shrink wrap was torn/almost non existent and numerous parts were missing. After many years working in LTL I know how to document damage or shortage on a freight bill. The shipper either didn’t band the loose parts properly or Averitt cut the bands and the shrink wrap. The shipper sent the replacement parts by UPS.navypoppop, Lonesome and Another Canadian driver Thank this.
