I've been driving dry van for 7 years and have been wanting to make the move to flatbed only to find that TFI has bought out so many of the flatbed companies that I've come across.

    So far:
    • Tennessee steel haulers
    • Boyd Brothers
    • EW Wylie
    • Central Oregon Truck Co.
    • SPD per @mitrucker
They're all going to the same style trucks.

Are any of these guys okay to drive for? Any consensus about them all being owned by the same conglomerate?

You can add SPD to that list.

    Where are you located?

A zip code would be great....

I live over the road, I just strongly prefer to avoid the northeast. Hell, avoid Chicago if I can. Western 11 or pnw regional would be good but I'm open as long as no NE

All of those TFI companies listed will send you to the NE and Chicago. Even COTC and SPD.
SPD will even put you in NYC with a 53' trailer. Plus Los Angeles multi-stops. California and East coast big time.

Don't forget to add Lonestar, Wylie and Boyd to the list. All of the former Daseke companies are now part of TFI (or as I call them W-TFI).

A 53’ trailer in NYC!? Shoot how about a 60’ rgn in the middle of the night! Right through nyc out to Long Island at 95k pounds. All part of the job. IMG_2095.jpeg

Kyle I never complained. I did TMX multi stops and Genie lifts on 53' trailers to Queens for SPD for 7 years. The whole time it was illegal to do that. Yes, it's part of the job. I never made waves about it. But the OP is dreaming if he thinks he won't see all 48 states with TFI

Fair enough. The only way to pretty much now go west is to get in one of the maxi fleets that runs in the PNW. But regional flatbed work is a lot like work. Unload and reload every day? No thank you.
