But you do get better.....
Except on days like today where I feel like I'm on week 2 of CDL training....
Wide arse open dock, can't fluckin hit it. Easy drivers side 45 degree back. In a DAY CAB! Took me forever.
I'm not "experienced" by any stretch but to all the guys and girls struggling in CDL training right now, you'll be fine! You'll have off days and great days. Days where you're ego is boosted (be careful, ego can bite ya) and days where you just want to close the curtain and cry (yep, did that my second week solo, ain't afraid to admit it, was frustrated!).
Don't quit! And don't be too proud to ask for help!
Don't worry, it doesn't get easier....

I had the same problem. With 100 docks and I have to hit 47. No lines on the floor, no trailer next to it. I have no point of reference and I'll miss it by 3 docks
Diggler, tucker, tinytim and 1 other person Thank this. -
lol, been there.
Sometimes you just gotta stop for a minute or two, clear your head, laugh at yourself and then get back to doing it.Puppage, Friday and texasbbqbest Thank this. -
Even the more experienced drivers have an off day backing into a dock( who doesn't). It happens. But the important thing is that it is a learning experience that'll teach you to do better next time.
PacoTaco, tinytim and texasbbqbest Thank this. -
I do the same thing. Got an RGN....gotta back into bld. Door is 14' wide. Been doing this since 87' Gotta be sunspots or something

I can hit a dock with trucks on either side but give me a mty dock and I cant hit anything. I started carrying a bright orange hocky puck to mark the correct dock so i have a reference.

lol! yeah,my mirror geometry sux too when i have nothing to reference location by.
texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
Hahaha yeah I have those days too. Go to pick up in the tightest blind side dock with trees and walls and sun reflecting off everything and hit it first shot. Dropping off at a huge warehouse with all the room in the world and I have to do 10 pull ups before it's even angled into the right direction

I love everyone's honesty. Thanks for all you do.
texasbbqbest Thanks this. -
Every time I have an "off" day of backing there's like 75 people standing around watching. Give me the hardest dock ever, I nail it in one shot, and there's NOBODY around to witness it! Why is that???
22dragoo, bottomdumpin, bzinger and 11 others Thank this.
