So I know the DPF is supposed to catch all of the suit in the eguhast. But when it comes time to do a regen, doesn't all of the suit just get released into the air anyway?

It seems to me like your just saving all of the suit up, and the dumping it into the air in big doeses, instead of doing it gradually as you drive.

where does the suit go when you regenerate your dpf filter?

Well the suit goes to the cleaners! :biggrin_2559:

The regen system on the other hand injects some diesel fuel into the DPF, ducts hot exhaust gas through it, and burns out the soot.

.....OR the system fails, throws a check engine light, derates the power, causes you to hand your wallet to the dealer shop where they give you back how much money they feel you should have. You then leave looking like you just spent 30yrs in Shawshank prision but with a smile on your face because you were told your saving the planet only to do it all again a few months later.:biggrin_2559:

Converts it to ever smaller particles of carbon dioxide, the same stuff you exhale when you're breathing.

Hey, I think he is on the right track. We could save the world if we would throw all the suits into an extremely hot fire and bake them for 45 minutes. Let's start with the suits in DC.

    WatsonDL1, 07-379Pete and THBatMan8 Thank this.

ALL of them! Especially if that suit has its face plastered in a TV camera - and don't discriminate based on side of aisle!!!

Think of regeneration like when you turn on your gas grill on high to burn off the burnt bbq residue and whatnot from the last time you grilled. You turn that stuff to ash, which is lighter and easier to remove than the burnt carbon stuff, right?
