Hey everybody,
Im looking to get some feedback from experienced truck drivers on the practicality of a digital permit book app. Lots of states are claim to accept electronic credentials at roadside instead of a paper permit, is that your experience? Has anyone moved to carrying/displaying digital permits and scrapped the permit binder? I appreciate your thoughts!

As in oversize permits?
Collin Thanks this. -
I haven't heard of ANY states that accept electronic versions of cab card/IFTA cert/ insurance card/hazmat permit, etc.
Nor would I use an app for it.
I like having a tangible permit book.
And I don't want YET ANOTHER ####ing app on my phone.Pamela1990, mustang190, Speedy356 and 3 others Thank this. -
SInce 2019 all member jurisdictions have to accept a legible electronic image of both a current year IFTA Licence and IRP Apportioned Cab Card. Many jurisdictions are allowing drivers to carry and display oversize/overweight permits electronically instead of having a paper document as well. In practice I wondered how many drivers use that method for compliance.
I can certainly appreciate having too many apps on my phone though

Yea definitely oversize/overweight permits as I've read most states accept digital copies of those. IFTA licences and IRP cab cards must be accepted that way too (according to the legislation anyways). It seems the traditional paper permit book is ripe for innovation IMHOblairandgretchen Thanks this.

No way, just as you need to show it your device will lock up or crash. I even use paper logs, no malfunctions.
