So this morning on my first run to Junction City just cruising down 70 West, there is a big truck right behind me, and a little car to my left. I spy a dear off to my right kinda running towards the highway so I tap the clutch and kick the cruise off and start slowing down. The deer looks right at my truck and stops... so I'm like ok cool, start powering on the throttle again. 5 Feet away from the front of my truck said deer LEAPS out, I tag her with the driver side of the truck and the deer gets thrown like 6-7 feet into the air OVER the car in the left hand lane. I pull over and there is a tow hook on the front of my truck, thats the only thing that had any fur on it, and I bet the person in the car needed new shorts LOL!

When I first started, I was going down a back road. Pitch black, this was an old cabover Boyd Bros had, 1 of 2 on the fleet so no high beams. BOOM THUMP THUMP WHACK WHACK. Pulled over and got out with the flashlight, little baby deer hung up up on the drive axles, sure did a number on the airlines. Think the truck was an old Ford, they used to make semi-tractors.

I got my first deer last month. Early morning around 2am, headed south on US-75, just north of Burlington, KS. The deer waits until I'm only about 20 feet away, and runs across. I hit him square, thought he was going under the tractor, and was worried about the damage he would do. Thankfully it threw him off to the left. Could barely see an indentation on the bumper.

Had 2 fawns run in front of me the other day. 3ish in the afternoon, both were standing in the ditch off to the right, just like statutes. I seen them from a distance, and due to them not moving at all, could not figure out right away what the heck they were. I started slowing expecting them to bolt, and they did. Luckily it was far enough away that I had plenty of time to slow. However they were not moving very fast, so I just kicked the jake on. It seemed like they lit the after-burners when they heard that jake.
