OK I've been seeing more and more 379 and 389 flat tops with reefers behind them and I have to ask, what's the deal? Are you all doing LTL or regional work, or do you just like rollin OTR and lookin fine in that flat top, and inquiring mind wants to know![]()

Dominick253 and Winnyf1 Thank this. -
Don't pull a reefer. But I wouldn't trade my flattop for a condo even if I did. Love the look and more then enough room in it for me
Grubby, Dominick253 and Winnyf1 Thank this. -
Because it looks cool 8)
Oldironfan, Youngtrucker91, jbatmick and 13 others Thank this. -
That it certainly does, how do you do it and pull off a profit, mostly LTL?
-
Flattop and profit aren't mutually exclusive.
Truth be told I borrowed that wagon last week to take a load of donations down to flood victims in West Virginia- I don't usually pull that trailer.
Finding the right customers is key for any operation. You can make money with equipment that doesn't appear to be the most economical-Oldironfan, Logan76, cnsper and 4 others Thank this. -
Same argument as people claiming that big square hood must bring your mpg down to the point you're going in the poor house. Not true. Same goes for the relatively small increase in square footage you will be pushing through the air with flat top vs stand up with a box trailer. The difference in fuel economy is only a few %.
Dominick253 and Ruthless Thank this. -
I had a rental flat top truck for a week. Same exact model except no fairings... It got better economy than the truck with fairings pulling the same freight to the same places. How you drive and what engine trans and gears you have make a much bigger difference in my opinion.
Oldironfan and Farmerbob1 Thank this. -
Because I like it!
