I am in Florida, more specifically Orlando area and new to this field. I am wondering if there’s options for companies that pay from day 1. As in, day 1 at their location in a classroom or practice lot you are getting paid. I know on the road with a mentor training will be paid but I’m curious about the start. I mean the bills still need to be paid. A secondary question. If somewhere has schools far from my house or another state that I’d go to, is it safe to assume they would have a home office where I’d transition to so when I go home it is closer to my actual home, Thanks so much for the help.
Hello, and welcome. Let me be one of the 1st to say, you will get a bunch of wise cracks on this, as generally, YOU pay them to learn, not t'other way 'round. You will find, recruiters don't care about how much you owe, and quite frankly, I feel you are starting out on the wrong foot. Any new venture of this magnitude, after schooling, it may take months to regain your investment, and by then, you may have already quit. Statistically, many never make it past the trainer stage. The reality few consider, is the truck becomes your home, and trying to "do it all" is the kiss of death, trust me. If I was in Orlando, a bunch of things one could do. In trucking, the only thing I remember being shipped out of Fl. is oranges.

I hauled lots of produce out of the Everglades. Been to Florida a hundred times at least and always got out of there with produce, orange juice, Juicy-Juice.
If a company hires you, that means your home location is within the freight lanes. You won't be hired if the company can't get you home for home time. Living in Florida, your best bet is to go with a refrigerated company.
CR England has some very good dedicated accounts. Many drivers have been there for years. The problems we read about are teams when they are paired and don't know each other.
