I am new too driving and wound up getting into a hopper bottom for awhile. Have my own truck authority and all using the brokers trailer till I get into my own probably something different then hopper bottom but will see. Ran a few loads of corn on my first day went well no problems. Now have a load of natural chicken on and the loader asked me where I wanted it in the trailer. I understand the air gauges on the truck and trailer and need too start recording them as I go I believe. My question is should it be more front hopper loaded rear or even? He wound up loading me more rear hopper heavy then front which rides well but bumpy. Searched the forum and have tried too read up but can’t find any help for my question. The other question is where do you sweep out at on the grates after dumping or how do you clean out without a wash out too be good for the next load? Appreciate any insight or advice on both.

Just a regular tandem trailer? With a tandem I would load 25k in the front hopper and 27k in the rear. When I pulled my triple axle I’d load 19k in the front and 40k in the rear. If you’re loading 25 ton or so then half and half is a good starting point and then go check it on a Cat scale.
Yeah just a tandem trailer. Gotcha makes sense and I believe that’s about where I have been but rather ask then be in the dark.

It depends on how you load. Setback axle? Or extended hood. My Freightliner Cascadia, weighs in around 29000, I usually load it 24000 in front 26000 in rear in order to axle out. The Kenworth t660 weighs in 27900, same trailer, it loads half and half to axle out. As for washouts I use Bulkloads, Where to Get a Truck Washout | BulkLoads.com
