How do we do it?

Their message is stronger than ours, even though theirs is made up of lies. They also pay $$$ for the great un-washed to join their fleets in the way of paid training. The main problem is the reputation truck drivers have for embelishing the truth and just plain making stuff up. A lot of what I hear at truck stops and water coolers is just madness. In this area, you can't compete and win against the megas.

 

There are more people researching here than you think, however most do not want to believe what they read, or they believe they are going to be the exception to the rule. How many times have we seen a new thread start with " I have been lurking here for a while and finally decided to register and post" , or " I know that I have read nothing but bad things about (insert company here), but ........."
I am willing to give advice on a subject I have actual knowledge of, but when the unknowing, inexperienced person has the assumption that they know more than me when they have not been there, done that, or even read the book, well then good luck, we will see you on here in a while making a new post on how (insert company here) screwed them over.

 

I think of this trucking business like the casino of life - at the mega-crap trucking company, like a casino, the house always wins. I think if a guy approaches a job at the mega that way, you can come out of a mega ok and move on in your career and win in life.

The big problem is trucking is full of delusional idiots. Ones that never see the forest for the trees. People that are too stupid to see they are getting taken at the table. People that are so low of self esteem, they must stroke their ego by making up a working life that don't exist. Just like the degenerative gambler, in their own mind they never loose. These people are always the biggest losers and if they didn't have their fantasy life rolling big numbers at the casino, or mega trucking, they would have no life.

Sometimes its hard for a new guy to come here and tell who is who from just reading a few posts. Human nature of a guy that needs a job wants the degenerative gambler, or the mega-crap fan boy or the recruiter, to be right. Thats why so many of us have an uphill battle in telling the truth.

I'm convinced a lot of truck drivers are into BDSM. That's the only way I can rationalize some of the stupidity they engage in.
